Essie D. Green

Essie Green, founder of Young Women Facing Motherhood, Inc. (Young Men Facing Fatherhood, Inc.) became pregnant at the young age of 14 years old, and a parent at the age of 15. And she was quickly thrown into the responsibilities of motherhood, as well as attending school and work.

Knowing  that the many challenges that she faced as a teen mother, are still prevalent today, she took it upon herself to use her personal experience and create a non profit organization that caters to helping young parents by providing a crisis baby pantry with essential baby basics such as formula, diapers, wipes, clothes, etc. ALL free of charge!

With the help of private donors and community support, ywfm continues to successfully build a network to help teen parents in the Hennepin County area.

Essie also enjoys sharing her unique story, to inspire others to be the change they want to see.
